What is a circle?
A circle is a round shape with no sides and no corners. A circle looks like the top of a pancake. If you change the size or color of a circle it is still a circle. It has no sides and no corners.
What is a triangle?
A shape with 3 straight sides is called a triangle. Any shape that has three straight sides is a triangle. You can turn the shape or change its size and it is still a triangle!
What is a rectangle?
A rectangle has 4 sides and 4 square corners. A corner is where 2 sides meet. A square corner looks like the corner in a capital letter L. A rectangle has 2 pairs of sides that are the same length.
A square is a special rectangle.
A square also has 4 sides and 4 square corners. A square is a rectangle where all of the sides are the same length.
What is a hexagon?
There is a shape in a honeycomb. Count the sides: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The shape has 6 sides. A shape with 6 sides is called a hexagon.
